Joseph Moore – Revolutionary War Hero
Joseph Moore was born in Southwick Hampden County, Massachusetts and trained at West Point. In the war he was a soldier in the MA Continental. He is also listed as having served as a bodyguard to George Washington. He and his wife Hannah (MIller) had eleven children and moved to Avon Township in Ohio in 1819. He was the only Revolutionary War veteran to settle in Avon Township.
