CDR: Battered Constituent Syndrome

In lay terms, this is a reference to any person who, because of constant and severe civic violence usually involving verbal, mental, emotional, economic and sometimes physical abuse by a political leader, government office holder, legislator or bureaucrat, becomes depressed and unable to take any independent action that would allow him or her to escape the abuse. The condition explains why abused citizens often do not seek assistance from others, fight their abuser, or leave the abusive situation. Sufferers have low self-esteem, and often believe that the abuse is their fault. Such citizens usually refuse to hold their abuser politically, criminally or civilly accountable, and refuse all offers of help, often becoming aggressive or abusive to others who attempt to offer assistance. Often sufferers will even seek out their very abuser for comfort shortly after an incident of abuse.

I’m not at all sure I understand what it is you are trying to say? Greetings, by the way.
It isn’t 1776. America isn’t a continent populated by soon to be exterminated natives and overflowing with untapped resources. The “center” ain’t holding because it cannot. Capitalism is playing itself out. The only thing that can grow for ever is cancer and it kills you.
Do I understand you to think that we need more religion? More immortality schemes based upon denying people not like “us” their place in the sun? I don’t think so.
Everybody wants to think that their life has value and that the world has some kind of meaning. It probably doesn’t, from what I can see, but that will never stop people from making something up, to cover the “value” part. Religion does that and so does money. The problems is that one is a lie we tell ourselves and the other doesn’t make us happy. So, we are fucked as a culture adrift in a sea of other no longer functioning cultures… all conflicting.
The answer appears to be more high fructose corn syrup, TV and prozac.
My advice would be to stop looking at cost and start only looking at value. The Constitution has always been a pack of grandiose lies told by fat-cats to the mob. “Endowed by their Creator” my ass. They had slaves, never intended women to vote and felt great about themselves in practicing genocide on the non-christians of the world. The future is ahead of us, not behind.

      I rest my case . . . . . evidently prozac is not a viable treatment option.
